Posted for educational reasons.  This diamond has a unique set of proportions with a nice mixture of minor facet cutting we can learn from.   This diamond in mainly posted to show the effects of changing the lower girdle facet length, it's impact on light output through the table & stars PLUS this particular stone has upper girdles less than 40° (around 38-39° average) which contribute to better light return through the upper girdles (no blatant leakage).

GIA Report:

An H&A diamond with VG/EX via the GIA report.  Some websites claim that a diamond *can't* be a Hearts & Arrows stone unless it has GIA Ex/Ex or AGS "0" in polish & symmetry.  This diamond proves that claim to be false as do others we've scanned in.

External Cut Analysis:

Sarin results show a cherry set of proportions.

34.4 crown angles, 40.7 pavilion angles and a 55.3 table.

If you click on the DiaVision button, turn the 3d model so you're viewing the pavilion and click on the lower girdles you'll see they avearage out to 75% in length.  Remember the Sarin measures the lower girdle facet length while the OGI (see below) measures the lower girdle facet height/depth.  The OGI measures the lower girdles right around 78% (3% higher than the length measurement).

Optical Cut Analysis

Hearts & Arrows optical symmetry:

The 78.1% lower girdles (of course when properly coupled with a killer set of proportions) produces a nice bold arrows pattern. Also it is this lower girdle facet length that begins a slight seperation between the hearts and the clefts beneath the hearts.

LightScope Analysis

Lower girdles at 78% (also demonstrated on our minor facets tutorial) generally produce no blacks between the arrows under the table.  Light return through the stars are good  however the blacks are on the small side.  Lengthening the lower girdles increases and enhances fire and scintillation through the stars and the table.  These are very short stars however measuring 46% on the OGI and 44 on the Sarin.
